History of Kinzer

Kinzer was named for Harry Kinzer who in 1834 built a three-story hotel to house railroad workers building the PA railroad. Most of houses were built in the early 1900's. It has a very small town/ rural feel but is only 20 minutes from Lancaster City to the west and 20 minutes from Brandywine Hospital in the east and other places of work in Chester County. The Kinzer post office does rural delivery and has PO boxes for clients. The Kinzer Fire Company holds a well-attended community breakfast every first Saturday of the months.

Rough and Tumble is a nationally known steam engine museum.
